…continuing with Let’s talk travel
We left Tilburg for Dusseldorf again in order to catch the connecting train to Denmark, where we aimed to spend a day.
Hubby was not feeling too good, he came down with flu. We had to change the plan of spending a day in Dusseldorf and take a night train to Copenhagen instead. But we ended up spending the night in Lubeck and planned to continue the trip in the morning.
Anyway the only goal in Lubeck was to find a hotel, have dinner and straight to bed (that’s why there are no photos on this part). The first hotel we tried looked reasonably fancy but we didn’t expect to be told it’s ninety euros per night, without even breakfast nogal! I felt like laughing out loud and tell the receptionist that we’ve been travelling all day, sick and very tired, this is not a good time for jokes. What is the price exactly?
After realizing that it was not a joke, we thanked him graciously and walked out to never return again but find a reasonable place. Well, things considered the only part of Europe that is reasonable is the east, anything west and northwards you pay dearly. The only fuss was that they could have at least included breakfast for that price. Luckily there was another hotel not so far, it was by no means cheap but much better priced than first with breakfast included.
After checking in, we were shown to our comfortable and meticulously clean room with linen that looked like it had just been unpacked, brand new from the shops. Lovely! we dropped the luggage and dashed out to a nearby restaurant for a light and delicious meal, and returned to the comfort of our hotel room. Bliss of warm shower, and tucked under the duvet afterwards we watched some crappy series on television and dozed off too sleep.
We woke up in the morning feeling well rested, refreshed and hubby feeling much much better, it could have been tiredness more than anything. It was a beautiful sunny day and we were ready rock Copenhagen.
